15 Mar 2008 - March newsletter
Holidays
As a small reminder, the Easter weekend is the 21st – 24th March (inclusive), we then return to school on the 25th March before breaking up on the 4th April for the school holidays. Congratulations
Well done to all those who represented the school at the gymnastics competition at Bideford on Saturday 8th March. I am sure they enjoyed themselves very much. Thank you to all the parents for supporting this event and in particular Mrs Feltham and Mrs Bains for coaching the weekly after-school club. The children’s enthusiasm and attitudes has already proved inspirational to others.
Parent / teacher meetings
Details for these will come home separately. Y1 and Y2 children will also have their annual report before the end of term. This will be followed by parent teacher meetings to discuss your child’s progress.
Active Mark 2007
We have recently received our latest award for PE. This is because the children have at least two hours of PE each week and participate in area events such as the multi-skills morning at the Tarka Tennis Centre. Well done to everybody
Clerk to Governors Vacancy
The current clerk to governors is resigning due to work commitments and so the governors seek to appoint another clerk as soon as possible. This is a paid role and the hours are approximately 2hours per week during term time only. Briefly the job will comprise taking minutes and the distribution of agendas and other such paperwork following attendance at governors meetings. Full training will be given and anyone interested should speak to Mrs Fewings, Mrs Hall or Mrs Hook for more details.
Books for Babies
The remaining session dates for this term are as follows:
31/03
These will start again after the holiday on Monday 21st April
This is a free group for parents and pre-school children to meet over a coffee and share books etc with their children.
Olde English Fayre
The names for Page – boys at this year’s Olde English Fayre were picked out of the hat in assembly. The Y2 boys will be Andrew and Samir. We hope that the sun shines and they both have a lovely time.
Milk and Dinner Money
These two lots of money are dealt with separately. The milk money pots (although collected by the class teacher) go straight to the kitchen staff for converting into tokens, while the dinner money is dealt with by Mrs Bailey in the office. Please can you ensure that all money that comes into school is in a named milk money pot or envelope.
The current prices are 14p for milk and £1.75 per day for dinner. The meal price will increase next term to £1.85 per day.
Community News
There will be an art/crafts and coffee morning in the assembly rooms this Saturday between 10.30-12.00 noon. This activity is run by the Church as part of their year long project ‘Hope 2008’
Fones 4 Schools
We shall be sending the old mobile phones that we have collected next Thursday 20th March, so if you have more that you would like to recycle, please send them into school by Wednesday 19th. Thank you
Despite the recent windy weather the daffodils planted along the drive last autumn are
beginning to bloom. The bulbs were a prize won for the school by Sophie M last year. Thank you Sophie, they will be enjoyed for years to come.
